Sheffield-Wheelock Transfer Station, Rte. 122, Wheelock just east of Town Hall. Managed jointly by the Selectboards of the Towns of Sheffield and Wheelock.
Hours of Operation: Wednesday and Saturday 8am -5pm
Permit required (free). Must be a Sheffield or Wheelock resident.
Use of the Transfer Station is free to all Sheffield and Wheelock residents.
Purchase trash bags at the Town Clerk's Office while they last. Large rolls of trash bags are available as a roll of 10 bags for $20.00. Preprinted trash bags will be accepted at the transfer station until they run out.
Purchasestickers for your own bag of any size at the Wheelock Town Office or at the Wheelock Village Store. Each sticker costs $3 and can be used on any size bag. The Town appreciates the Store's willingness to provide this convenience, and they are not making any money by offering this service. This new sticker policy went into service July 1, 2026. This decision will save roughly $16,000.00 in taxpayer funds.
Payments will no longer be accepted at the transfer station.
Bulky days: For big items like couches or mattresses. On regular days during the 2nd week of April, July, and October. Dates subject to change so please check back.
