- Hours of Operation: Wednesday and Saturday 8am -5pm
- Permit required (free): Get a sticker at the Transfer Station or at Town Clerk's Office. Must be a Sheffield or Wheelock resident.
- Recycling is free.

Attention!
Beginning June 1st, 2026
- The transfer station will begin the transition from preprinted trash bags to trash stickers on June 1st, 2026. This decision will save roughly $16,000.00 in taxpayer funds.
- With the transition from pre-printed trash bags to stickers, the transfer station will no longer except barrels of trash. All trash items must be in a trash bag with a sticker affixed to the outside.
- Along with the transition from pre-printed trash bags to stickers for trash disposal, the transfer station will no longer take bulky trash items outside of the prescheduled quarterly bulky days.
- For a schedule of dates please contact either town clerk or speak with the transfer station attendant.
- Stickers will cost $3.00 each and may be used on any sized garbage bag (one sticker per bag).
- Stickers will be sold at the Town Clerks’ offices and at the Wheelock Store.
- Payments will no longer be accepted at the transfer station.
