Open Meeting Law & Conflict of Interest

The Town of Wheelock takes very seriously our obligation to promote transparency and inclusion when it comes to the work of our public officials.

Vermont Municipal Code of Ethics

State legislation from 2024 made it so that town-approved conflict of interest policies are no longer in effect; all towns are now required to follow the Vermont Municipal Code of Ethics. For more information on the Municipal Code of Ethics, see the full text of the Municipal Code of Ethics or the Vermont State Ethics Commission website

Vermont Open Meeting Law

State laws regulate how officials and bodies meet and communicate and how and when those communications are recorded. As digital methods become more common, the laws become more complex. For more information on Open Meeting law, see the Vermont Open Meeting Law statutes: 1 V.S.A. §§ 310–314 or the Secretary of State’s website page, Open Meetings
