Future Wheelock Land Use Map Expands Village Center

Vermont’s Act 181, which passed in 2024, significantly reshapes Vermont's land use regulations and planning. Its goal is to protect natural resources and create opportunities for much needed new housing. NVDA (Northeastern Vermont Development Association) provides more complete information about the legislation on their website. At our 5/20/25 Selectboard meeting NVDA presented a proposed land use map for Caledonia County that included a draft map expanding the village center of Wheelock. Based on comments at the meeting, NVDA created a revised draft map, and is now seeking feedback for the proposal. Most of the towns in Caledonia County have
planning commissions, currently Wheelock does not, so comments/ideas can be shared with the Wheelock Selectboard. NVDA's deadline to receive comments on the map is 8/31/2025.
