Local Hazard Mitigation Plan Update

LOCAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN UPDATE

Public review and comments are welcome on the Wheelock Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP) update to replace the current plan that expires Aug. 2026. A current LHMP contributes to the state share of help for the town (our ERAF score) in the event of a federally declared disaster. The comment period is open to the public, bordering towns, NVDA and Vermont Emergency Management. Following state and FEMA review the selectboard will adopt the plan. Review and final FEMA approval can take six months or more.

Print copies of the full plan draft (112 pages), the executive summary, and a comment form are available for download at the links below or at the town office, or by contacting [email protected]. Town office hours are Tu-Th 8-3 or by appointment. 802-626-9094 or [email protected]. Comments are welcome using the comment form or by letter or email. The comment period will close Aug 21st, 2026.
