According to a new state law that went into effect July 1, 2026, only a Fire Chief or his/her designee may issue burn permits. The designee must be a member of the Department and reside in the Town. The Department is working on getting a dedicated phone line at the main location in Sheffield and when it is available we will add it to the Wheelock website.
